Honest Scrap

hd

It seems as though I was nominated by Lauren for the Honest Scrap Award! "What does that mean," you ask?!  The idea is to share 10 honest things about yourself that your blog readers may not already know about you, and then pass the award on by nominating 7 other blogs that you find "brilliant in content or design". Sounds easy enough, right? The part about nominating 7 other blogs that I love does, but thinking up 10 new things about me?? Hmmm...
Here We Go…….

1) I love, love, love a bargain whether it be from a coupon, a good sale, consignment sale, Goodwill, wherever, whatever!

2) The thought of walking in a bathroom with no shoes or socks on makes me sick to my stomach!

3) I was that crazy crazy nut mom when Hannah Noelle was a baby! It was done my way or no way! I have handed out many apologies since I realized how nuts I was!!!

4) If I have a project that HAS to be done I would rather stay up late, late, late than wake up 5 minutes earlier than I have to! There’s just something about changing my morning routine that sends me in a whirlwind!

5) I plan WAY too far ahead, almost obsessively too far ahead! I already have costumes for the kids for Halloween, their Christmas clothes and starting to get a little nauseous planning Easter outfits! It’s definitely a sickness, but it’s one that doesn’t leave me in a tizzy right before big events!

6) I don’t DON’T don’t like wearing skirts or dresses! I’m not real sure why! I used to blame it on my pasty white chicken legs, but I’ve been wearing Bermuda Shorts this year, so I’m not sure what the real problem is with dresses!

7) I LOVE to get dressed up.  There is nothing like a day when there is enough time to care what I look like! I like doing my makeup, fixing my hair, wearing something besides Yoga Pants and a tee-shirt.  It makes you feel better about yourself too!

8) My husband absolutely adores me and for that I think he hung the moon! I get a love note every morning and several random texts throughout the day along with E-Cards! Its the little gestures that mean the most!!!

9)  I always try to say something positive or complementary towards everyone I see everyday! I’m sure people sometimes think I’m being insincere, but I will make it a point to compliment something about their clothes, their hair, their attitude, something! I do this because I love a good compliment so I try to spread the joy!!!

10) I always worry (way too much) if I’ve offended people or if I come across the wrong way.  This is awkward for me if you know me because I’m a very say what I want, speak what I feel kind of girl, but then after it comes out of the ole’ mouth I worry about it for days or hours!!

How’d Ya Know?

Several people have either commented or messaged me directly wanting to know how I knew Cannon needed glasses.  Well, as much as I would like to say Mother’s Intuition, I can’t.

The babies were seen in the NICU by a Pediatric Optometrist to be tested for ROP.  All four past the ROP test, but were required for a follow-up (here’s the post about it) with Dr. Rich after being released.  At that appointment we were told to pretty much expect Cannon to have to have glasses.  He also told us to keep an eye on his eyes to make sure there was no crossing, etc.  After some conversations with my buddy, Jac, about when she knew she needed to do something with Cullen I knew it was time to take the Can-Man back.  We went back and we decided to wait it out a little longer.  The plan then was to come back in October if it stayed the same, but if it got worse to come back asap.  After the recent hospital stay we had we realized that when Cannon is sick or extremely tired his droopy eye (the left one) is almost completely closed.  We went back and Dr. Rich decided to try the glasses.  He told me, he probably won’t wear them, but when and if he notices a difference, he won’t want to take them off.  That’s been what’s happened since the second I put them on.  I have had to put them back on (besides after nap, sleeping, baths, etc) only one time and that was a jealous rage fit that Gunner had to climb in my lap and knocked them off! We’re praying this resolves the problem and we don’t have to take any further steps!

Here are some pictures of Cannon before the glasses where you can really see the droopy (Popeye) eye!

A Whole New World

Since finding out that Cannon had to have glasses I’ve had a lot of emotions.  The main one being so proud that in the big scheme of things having a little vision problem is absolutely not that big of the deal.  Then, I worried, what will he think, will it be a daily every minute battle? Will the other three yank them off his face and hurt his precious little ears?  Is it going to help? Will he even notice a difference?
Well, today I got a few of those answers.  We got the call that Cannon’s glasses were in and ready to be picked up.  Pae-Pae was in Pascagoula so she ran by and picked them up for me.  We were having my brother’s birthday dinner here tonight (Happy Birthday Coach!) and I was trying so hard to concentrate on getting food ready, feeding the babies, etc., but I couldn’t help but watch for the door to see Pae-Pae coming in with my Can-Man’s glasses!
Once she got home I picked Cannon up and put his precious little glasses on.  He immediately started blinking his eyes rapidly because he could tell a difference.  He started looking around almost in amazement.  I took him out of the play room and let him come in my office to play so his brother and sisters wouldn’t bother him.  He LOVED his glasses.  He kept looking around, crawling everywhere, picking up every teeny tiny thing on the floor.  I put him back in the play room area and he was SO proud of his glasses.

The eye doctor told us to try for at least an hour a day, we got over an hour in the first day! I’m so excited for him, yet I know tomorrow is a whole new day and he might not like them when he wakes up, but for today, I’m a happy mommy!!

Pre Party Pics

Today was a BIG DAY for the babies! 12 month check-up and shots! Notice the (s) behind the word shot! They each got six total!!! Our room was loud, to say the least!! Two nurses came in so that they could do three in each leg simultaneously.  Avery was the last to get her shots and she was crying before the needles even got close, she was so scared from the reactions her brothers and sisters had, she knew something awful was about to happen!! Thanks to Mrs. Brenda and Matt for meeting me there to make it easier! Also, big thanks to Jennifer, Johnna and Lila~Kate George for picking up Hannah Noelle from school so she didn’t have to witness the trauma!!
The measurements from today are as follow:

Cannon: 21 pounds, 12 ounces, 30 inches

Gunner: 24 pounds, 4 ounces, 29 1/2 inches

Lauren: 16 pounds, 12 ounces, 27 1/2 inches

Avery: 17 pounds, 1 ounce, 26 1/2 inches

These are some of the pictures Leighann took at our house two days before the party!

120 2 12 19 29 30 31 Leighann had the idea to take some of Cannon with Matt’s glasses since (at that point) we just thought maybe Cannon would be getting glasses.  Since then we it has been confirmed that our Lil’ Can-Man needs some assistance in his vision! We ordered the glasses and they should be in within the week and I’ll be sure to post some pictures of “The Stud!”  And of course we had to take some pictures with the infamous Pappy Duck! He loves that sucker!!

33 1 4 5 8 9 10 1132I bought these John Deere boots when Gunner was months old, they just seemed fitting for him! They’re still WAY too big, but too cute to pass up for some pictures!! 2621 22 23 2425I have never thought Lauren looked anything like Avery, but in some of these pictures I had to take a double take to check the bow color! She’s filling out so much better now and starting to look more and more like Avery.  Another big plus for me was when Leighann came she said, Sandra, Lauren is a little mini you! I melted! I’ve had 5 children and none of them have strong Pater jeans! I think it’s just the smile and the nap of her hair, but I’ll take any resemblance I can get!

36 14 15 16 17 18 3435Leighann wanted to do the angel wings like she had done with Lauren and I said, well, that’s SO not Avery! She’s our little punk-a-rella! So, we dug out Hannah Noelle’s costume from last Halloween and put her hot pink boots and Cowgirl hat on and it was so Lil Avery!!  28 3 6 7 13 27Of course Hannah Noelle wanted to join in on the picture action too and Leigh-Leigh was smart enough to bring angel wings “just her size!”  The last picture of HN with Lauren is so perfect because she loves to play with Lauren and drag her around everywhere and Lauren always has that “I’m not so sure about this” look on her face!!

Here’s an answer to some questions from my last blog post!

Long time lurker, first time commenter. You did a bang up job on that party with all the coordination of colors with kids.  That was great. I live in Philly, MS and want your contacts. Thanks so much!!  haha! Who does your invitations (amberle@creativepartycards.com), cakes (Tanya Cumbest), pictures Leighann, monogramming Laci-May's ~ did the monogramming on the first set of outfits. Pae-Pae purchased Cannon, Gunner and Avery’s and we couldn’t find Lauren a matching one so LaVonda at Hamilton’s (here in town) made hers, outfit making (vickbridgette@yahoo.com) Bridgette did all of the second outfits, the appliquéd letters and the precious shorts and Hannah Noelle’s skirt and appliqué!, etc The hair bow pins for the girls came from Engravings By Carol . Where in MS are you all. We’re in Hurley, Mississippi. I know I should know this but I forgot and then the whole East Cent. thing threw me off!

Hope you have a Great Week!!
